Authorities in Oklahoma are investigating after they say a person died after being struck by a stray bullet on Christmas Day in Meridian.
What we know:
The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media that an arrest had been made in connection with a shooting death that took place on Christmas Day in Meridian, Okla.
The sheriff’s office said 911 emergency crews were called to a home around 3:15 p.m. local time on a report that someone had been shot.
Authorities later got a call from a different address stating someone there had just gotten a gun for Christmas and was target practicing in his backyard, and that they believed the gun had been pointing in the direction of the scene.
Investigators went to the reported address and spoke with an individual that confirmed he was shooting a target in his backyard and that he had heard that someone had died from a gunshot wound a couple of roads over.
What we don't know:
The sheriff’s office didn’t share the identity of the person who had died. It had also not yet identified the suspect, except to say an arrest had been made for first-degree manslaughter.
