A new study is revealing the most popular baby names inspired by Disney characters.

The SEO agency Hennessey Digital analyzed 1,000 of the most popular baby boy and girl names in 2023, sourced from the Social Security Administration. The researchers then identified the top Disney-influenced baby names and ranked from the most and least popular.

Top Disney-inspired baby names

By the numbers:

According to the data, Oliver, from Disney’s "Oliver & Company," was America’s most popular Disney-inspired baby name with a total 14,741 boys born in 2023 with the name.

Meanwhile, Isabella from Disney's "Encanto" ranked as the second most popular name, with a total 10,808 girls born in 2023 – making it the most popular girls name.

For boys, Sebastian from Disney's "The Little Mermaid" ranked third overall, with a total 8,865 boys born with that name in 2023.

What they're saying:

"Disney characters have a lasting impact on popular culture, including having a heavy influence on what many expectant parents may choose to name their baby," Jason Hennessey, the company’s CEO, said in a statement.

With more than three decades of data for this particular study, the results were much different.

The top names, according to BeenVerified.com, were Merida from the movie "Brave," Koda from "Brother Bear" and Moana from "Moana." Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" also made the list, coming in at No. 6.

The analysis also identified the U.S. states most influenced by Disney names.

To qualify for the ranking, the name had to have been the name for a character featured in one Disney’s animated feature movies, one of Disney’s live-action movies or a character in one of Disney Channel’s series.
