2 killed in helicopter crash near Jim Thorpe
An investigation is underway in Carbon County where officials say a helicopter crashed Thursday afternoon leaving two people dead.
JIM THORPE, Pa. - An investigation is underway after officials say a deadly helicopter crash occurred in Carbon County Thursday.
What we know:
According to officials, at around 3:15 p.m. the Carbon County Coroner’s Office was notified of an aircraft accident in Jim Thorpe, near the power lines.
Medics were called to the scene.
FAA officials say two people were on board the helicopter at the time of the crash.
Unfortunately, they say two workers aboard the Hughes 369D helicopter were pronounced dead at 3:27 p.m.
What we don't know:
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
What's next:
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the crash.
