Man charged with child pornography offenses after police receive cyber-tips
PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man is facing charges related to child pornography after authorities received tips from concerned residents.
Back on November 6, the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit open an investigation into 23-year-old Taron Brown after receiving at least two cyber tips.
The tips were called in as early as October 29, stating that a man was posting pictures of little girls on Instagram and Facebook. Along with the photos, police say the man, who has since been identified as Taron Brown, was posting sexually explicit comments.
Police reviewed Brown's pages, and were able to determine Brown's location on the 4600 block of Shelbourne Street, and attempted to find him at his home, but there was no answer. Officers finally caught up with Brown outside his home on the 1400 block of West 72nd Avenue.
Brown was taken into custody and charged with sexual abuse of children, use of a communication device, and possession of an instrument of crime.
