Mega Millions surges to $680 million; ninth largest in lottery history

The Mega Millions jackpot has jumped to $680 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing.

This latest cash prize is the ninth largest in lottery history. But the largest ever Mega Million prize was $1.6 billion in 2023.

One lucky winner in Virginia claimed the last Mega Millions jackpot, which was $348 million, on June 27.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are $5 each and include a randomly assigned multiplier. Drawings are held at 11 p.m. ET on Tuesdays and Fridays.
