Mom will give birth to terminally ill daughter to donate her organs

(STORYFUL) - When Royce and Keri Young of Oklahoma City learned that their unborn baby girl, Eva, had anencephaly, meaning she was not properly developing a brain or skull, they made the difficult choice to carry her to term in order to donate her organs.

In a series of Facebook posts, the couple each explained their thoughts and feelings, said they were "pro-life" and that donating their daughter's organs would be very important.

"[After the presidential debates] I immediately messaged a few of my closest friends because I wanted their thoughts," said Keri in a Facebook post. "We all agreed, we're pro-life at any stage of life. My exact words were, "If I were put in this position, I'd want that baby alive and healthy for as long as possible. So if that means carrying the baby to 40 weeks, I'd take it. And from a practical standpoint, organs! I'd love knowing my baby's heart was still beating, even in another baby's body."

Royce echoed her words in his own post: "We made our choice to carry Eva to full term for a lot of reasons, but the first and foremost was to donate her organs. We don't say that to try and sound like great people or anything. It was just a practical endgame that in our minds, before we came to the realization Eva is alive and our daughter deserves to meet her mama and daddy, gave us a purpose to continue on."
