Mother says bullied 13-year-old daughter may have been target of Pottstown shooting

A Pottstown mother says a Sunday night shooting at her family's home may have been the violent result of her 13-year-old being bullied at middle school.

Authorities were called to the 500 block of West Street at 8:30 p.m. after a hail of gun fire rained down on a row home.

"It was like pow, pow, pow glass was flying, I didn't know what happened," said Marie Samba.

While no injuries were reported, Samba alleges that the shooting was an offshoot of untreated bullying that her daughter has face from her middle school peers.

Samba says her daughter's accused agressors appeared outside her home on Sunday afternoon.

"They started calling me all kinds of names, talking about when they see me they are gonna put me in a body bag," said Jasmin Samba.

The cheif of police says investigators have linked the shooting and the Sunday afternoon confrontation.

Meanwhile, the Pottstown School District says it takes all allegations of bullying seriously, but is treating this incident with extra care.

"It makes it even more serious and gives it more gravity to do whatever we can to address the issue," said John Armato of the Pottstown School District.

The student's mother wants an arrest and police protection for her family.
