Mummers strut their stuff and thrill crowds in Mardi Gras celebration

Mummers strutted their stuff in the 6th annual Mummers Mardi Gras celebration and they strutted in a new location Saturday.

String bands celebrated Mardi Gras, playing their festive music in South Philadelphia, where the Mummers tradition began.

The annual family friendly event also saw face painting, food trucks and a silent auction benefiting the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association.

In the last five years, the Mummers Mardi Gras parade took place in Manayunk, but organizers say they plan on keeping the celebration in South Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.
