Officials: Worker fatally crushed at Waste Management facility

SKYFOX was over the scene where a Waste Management Employee was killed in an accident at a facility in Holmesburg.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on the 5100 block of Bleigh Avenue.

Officials say sitting next to a stack of bales a worker was operating a forklift nearby which made contact with the bales of cardboard and caused them to topple. A bale of paper weighing one ton fell on top of and crushed the 42-year-old male.

According to police, the victim was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital and pronounced just before 8:30 a.m..
