Weather Authority: Calm, cool overnight leads to spotty showers on Sunday

The weekend will wrap up with overall pleasant conditions on Sunday with a few scattered showers in the afternoon and early evening. Temperatures will shoot into the 90s on Monday with humidity that will make conditions feel like the triple digits.

Moderate cloud coverage will continue overnight on Saturday, but conditions are expected to stay mostly dry. Nighttime temperatures will dip into the upper 60s and 70s across the region.

Humidity will increase during the daylight hours on Sunday as temperatures rise into the mid-80s in most places with sun and clouds. Shore towns will skew slightly cooler as the sea breeze will keep conditions below 80.

FOX 29's Scott Williams says areas north and west of the city can expect to see spotty showers during the afternoon and evening. Parts of the Lehigh Valley could see brief showers around 4 p.m. Rainfall in Philadelphia and nearby suburbs isn't expected until late Sunday night.

A heatwave will kick off on Monday with temperatures set to exceed 90 degrees for five straight days and humidity that could make it feel like the triple digits. Along with the steamy temperatures, forecasters say there is a chance of pop-up thunderstorms throughout the week.
