Community gathers to mourn solider killed in Afghanistan
EXPORT, Pa. (AP) - Family and loved ones are gathering to mourn a Pennsylvania solider killed in Afghanistan.
The funeral for 24-year-old Staff Sgt. Jason McClary is being held Tuesday morning at Cornerstone Ministries Church in Export.
A visitation held on Monday was heavily attended.
Family members say all McClary ever wanted to do was to join the Army.
His mother, Jo Lynn Maiolie, tells KDKA-TV her son always wanted to be on the front lines.
McClary will be buried at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
McClary died from wounds suffered in a roadside bomb blast last month in Afghanistan.
Three other service members were killed in the explosion, including U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Dylan Elchin, of Beaver County. Elchin's memorial service was last week. He'll be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
