Cornerbacks Jones, Douglas among Eagles cuts

(FOX 29 Philadelphia)

The Philadelphia Eagles released two of their first three picks in the 2017 draft among their cuts Saturday to reach the 53-man roster limit.

Cornerbacks Sidney Jones (second round) and Rasul Douglas (third round) were cut along with defensive end Shareef Miller, a fourth-round selection in 2019.

“When we make these decisions, we try to make sure we are not making decisions just based on where guys were picked,” general manager Howie Roseman said. “I think that one of the things I’ve learned from some of the great general managers in this league is they understand when it is time to kind of move on, and I’m not just talking about that in regards to Sidney or any of the draft picks we let go today.”

The Eagles previously cut running backs Elijah Holyfield, Adrian Killins Jr. and Mike Warren, wide receivers Manasseh Bailey, Deontay Burnett, Travis Fulgham and Marcus Green, offensive linemen Julian Good-Jones and Luke Juriga, tight end Tyrone Swoopes and defensive backs Grayland Arnold and Elijah Riley.
