Delaware Police arrest man wanted in pepper spray robberies

Delaware State Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a series of robberies in which he threatened victims with pepper spray.

Police say John Singleton, 54, is responsible for robbing as many as seven convenience stores and gas stations across Wilmington between Dec. 6 and Jan. 8.

In each incident, Singleton allegedly threatened victims with a pepper spray can, and stole money and cigarettes.

After an investigation, authorities linked Singleton to a green Kia Sportage. From there, police were lead to a residence on the 2800 block of Jefferson Street in Wilmington.

On Wednesday police took Singleton into custody without incident and found a can of pepper spray in his possession.

Singleton faces seven counts of first degree robbery. He is currently being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay a $140,000 bail.
