Man dead after police-involved shooting in Upper Pottsgrove Township
A late-night response to a suspected break-in turned deadly early Sunday morning when officials say Upper Pottsgrove Township police fatally shot a man outside a residence.
PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that left a 38-year-old man dead on Sunday evening.
What we know:
A 38-year-old man was found lying in the roadway with severe injuries at the intersection of North Broad Street and Glenwood Avenue, directly underneath the railway bridge, around 8 p.m.
Responding officers rushed the critically injured man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police say the striking vehicle, described as a white car or SUV, fled the scene following the deadly crash.
The deceased man is from the Pottstown area, but police say it is unclear why he was in the area at the time.
What we don't know:
The identity of the deceased victim has yet to be released, and police are still looking to identify the fleeing vehicle and suspected hit-and-run driver.
