Driver accused of hitting woman with car, dragging her out of street before police arrived

Investigators are looking for an accused hit-and-run driver who they say struck a woman with his car and dragged her out of the street before police arrived. 

The Philadelphia Police Department shared video on Thursday showing the aftermath of the broad daylight crash and called on the public for new leads.

Investigators are searching for the driver seen in the video, who they describe as a 20-30-year-old man wearing glasses and a red hooded sweatshirt. 

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was left with a traumatic brain injury as a result of the crash.

What we know:

Investigators say the collision happened just before 9 a.m. on Oct. 8 near the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Stanwood Street in Northeast Philadelphia.

Video shared on Thursday shows the suspect walking over to the woman and kneeling beside her motionless body in the middle of the street. 

Police say he dragged her out of the street and left the area before police or an ambulance arrived.

The victim, police say, suffered a traumatic brain injury from the crash.

What we don't know:

Investigators are searching for the driver seen in the video, who they describe as a 20-30-year-old man wearing glasses and a red hooded sweatshirt. 

It's believed he was behind the wheel of a 2010-2012 Honda Civic with a missing front driver's side hubcap and a rust spot on the hood of the trunk.

The vehicle, police say, had a temporary Pennsylvania license plate tag 4691-731.
