Folcroft police warn of solicitors going door-to-door without permits

FOLCROFT, Pa. (FOX 29) - Folcroft police are warning of solicitors in the area after they discovered one was a convicted rapist.

"Knock came at the door and I said come in," a woman, who doesn't want to be identified, told FOX 29.

Folcroft police say it was actually a solicitor for Atlantic Energy. Police tell FOX 29 that one-day last week, three Atlantic energy solicitors were caught going door-to-door without a permit and that one of them is a convicted rapist.

It's a frightening detail that responding officers uncovered and later published to the department's Facebook page as a warning to residents and a reminder: you don't know who is standing at your door.

A detective at the Folcroft Police Department tells FOX 29 that the police chief personally contacted Atlantic Energy to address this situation and says the company was responsive. Police officers remain on a heightened alert and will be stopping anyone soliciting business in its borough.
