Man charged with murder, sexual assault of woman found in NJ lake

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have made an arrest in the strangulation death of a woman whose body was found in the lake of a northern New Jersey park.

Hudson County prosecutors say 33-year-old Jorge Rios, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault in the death of Carolina Cano.

The 45-year-old Jersey City resident's body was found March 24 at Lincoln Park in Jersey City. An autopsy determined that Cano died from strangulation and water submersion, and authorities say she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted prior to her death.

Cano was arrested early Sunday. It wasn't known Monday if he's retained an attorney.
