Man charged with murdering, burning woman in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are investigating a homicide in the Walnut Hill section of West Philly.

The incident happened at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29.

Police responded to the 200 block of South 49th Street and found a deceased female who was under a pile of leaves in the rear area of the building.

The victim appeared to be suffering from multiple stab wounds and burns.

A suspect was taken into custody and later identified as 23-year-old Cole Swaringer-Herring from the 200 block of South 49th Street.

Swaringer-Herring was arrested and charged with murder, arson, abuse of a corpse and related offenses.

The investigation is active and ongoing with the Homicide Unit.
