Married choir teacher accused of having sexual relationship with 16-year-old student

A married, 25-year-old teacher was charged last week for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student at a Washington state high school where she taught.

Olivia Sondheim, a choir teacher at Lynwood High School, was allegedly involved in a lurid affair with the then-16-year-old student, police said.

Sondheim was arrested at her home after a warrant was served. She was charged with first degree sexual misconduct with a minor.

Police said the two had a relationship that "over time" became sexual.

District Spokesperson Debbie Joyce Jakala told InsideEdition.com that Sondheim has been placed on paid administrative leave while the criminal investigation into the allegations is underway.

"Our hands are tied at this point and obviously she isn't working during this period," Jakala said. "As soon as members of the school's community brought forward allegations and concerns we contacted police."

Jakala said allegations were first reported to the principal by "community and staff members."

Sondheim had previously posted on social media that she met her husband Daniel in 2012 and they were married in 2014 after a year-long engagement.

Sondheimg has posted bail, according to police.
