Police: No evidence of shooting at Christiana Mall

Delaware State Police say there is no evidence of gunfire at a mall where officers responded to reports of shots fired.

A police official said Friday night that nobody is injured at the Christiana Mall, where the sound of shots fired was reported by multiple people.

Officers had been at the mall for regularly scheduled security assignments when the reports came in. The mall was evacuated, and some stores were placed on lockdown as officers secured the area.

Police say there are no known suspects, victims or indications that gunfire occurred.

Investigators say there was a large fight between multiple subjects. During the incident, a glass container broke and a metal sign fell to the floor. The fight within the mall is believed to be the cause of the mass exit of patrons and employees. Some who fled the scene reported minor injuries. The Christiana Mall remains open during regularly scheduled holiday hours at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Troop 2 at 302-834-2620. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online.
