Snow-ready police dogs test out winter boots

PORTLAND, Maine (STORYFUL) - A pair of K-9s working with the Portland Maine Police Department are suiting up for the winter season in some special attire.

The police department shared a video of K-9s Barni and Trixie wearing boots on their paws to protect them from snow or salt.

"It's important to protect their paw pads as they don't have protection like we do when we wear shoes," said Dr. Jerry Klein of the American Kennel Club.

As helpful as the boots will be for Barnie and Trixie, it appears that it may take some time before the dogs get used to the strange feeling of having their paws covered up from the elements.
