Homeowners held at gunpoint, bound in Abington home invasion; arrest made
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - An arrest has been made in an armed home invasion Abington police say happened earlier this month.
Jonathan Dell, 24, was arrested in Philadelphia Thursday in connection with the Dec. 2 home invasion on the 200 block of Cedar Road.
That day, officers responded to a delayed report of a home invasion and met with a homeowner and her adult son. The woman informed police that she was loading ther car in their driveway when two suspects approached and held her at gunpoint, announcing a robbery.
The woman was forced inside the home and both she and her son were held at gunpoint.
For nearly an hour, police say the suspects ransacked the victim’s home, taking cash, jewelry, electronics and collectibles. Before they left, the suspects tied up the victims and fled in the homeowner’s car.
A short time later, the victims managed to free themselves and call for help. Neither of the victims were injured.
A short time later, Abington police recovered the victim’s car in Philadelphia. Detectives later discovered that the home had been specifically targeted and that Dell had a prior personal connection to a member of the household.
Police from Abington and Philadelphia, along with U.S. Marshals were able to track Dell to Philadelphia where he was taken into custody.
He’s been charged with robbery, burglary, kidnapping, and carrying a firearm without a license.
