South Jersey school district will start late after Super Bowl: Should others follow?
GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. - One local school district is already preparing for a potential Eagles victory in the upcoming Super Bowl!
What we know:
The Gloucester City School District announced on Tuesday that all schools will be on a two-hour delayed opening on Monday, February 10.
Officials say watching the Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday night is a "rare and special" time for families to spend together.
"We feel that it’s important to give students and staff the opportunity to enjoy the game with their families and still attend school and work the next day safely and well-rested," the district said in a statement.
So far, no other local schools have followed suit, but there are still several days until the Eagles face off against the Chief for what's bound to be an epic rematch.
What they're saying:
The school district received praise from people on social media following the announcement.
"Every district should be doing this," one commenter said.
While others suggested the day after the Super Bowl be recognized as a federal holiday for everyone!
