Vigil held for woman killed Thanksgiving Day

Family and friends of 25-year-old Ayessa Edwards gathered on the 3900 block of Howland Street in Juniata Park to remember the young lady murdered on Thanksgiving Day.

Police say someone hit Ayessa in the head with a gun on the steps of a home across from where she lived.

Police say she was knocked unconscious and fell down the steps.

It happened around 3:15 Thursday afternoon.

She died 12:30 Friday morning.

Her grandmother is heartbroken that she'll never hear her granddaughter's voice again.

"Them the words I miss. When she came through the doors in the morning, she would holler, 'Grandma, Grandma!' I won't be hearing the words no more," Mamie Foster, Ayessa's grandmother, said.

Family members say Ayessa was in the house across the street hanging out when a girl she had a long-standing feud with started an argument with her.

The argument turned into a fight.

The family says that's when the other girl's boyfriend jumped in and hit Ayessa in the head repeatedly with the gun.

Family members say no one involved in what happened actually lives at the house.

Police have not released any information about suspects, only that charges are pending.
