Young girl with cerebral palsy gets new voice for her communication device

A family got the chance to make a more authentic voice for their daughter and sister with cerebral palsy, and the video of their experience is touching hearts everywhere.

Erin, Megan, and Maeve are three sisters from Massachusetts. They live with their mom.

Maeve has cerebral palsy and uses a "talker" to communicate with others, according to Buzzfeed.

Erin wrote a letter to Dr. Patel who works with Vocal ID and explained that the voice on Maeve's talker "sounds nothing like the voice of an 8-year-old, but there are no voices programmed that sound like one."

Then, the entire family went to visit Dr. Patel at Vocal ID's headquarters where she helped Erin record different words and phrases and also helped Maeve record some sounds.

They then created a new voice and vocabulary for Maeve's talker, according to Buzzfeed.

It took 10 months for the voice to be finalized, but when the time came to hear it in action, Maeve was undeniably the most excited.

"I feel excited," she said. "I want to say hi to Taylor Swift with my new voice."
