Reports of thundersnow, lightning across region Wednesday

As snow blanketed the Greater Philadelphia area Wednesday, we received numerous reports of lightning and thunder being heard.

"It's telling us the atmosphere is super charged and ready to explode," FOX 29 Meteorologist Mike Masco said when the reports started coming in. "Lightning is an indicator that this storm now means business."

Masco pointed to "meso-banding zones" bringing the phenomenon to our area, along with heavy snow, gusty winds and low visibility.

Morristown, New Jersey and Levittown, Pa. were among the places where thunder was reported.
