12-year-old boy sworn in as honorary mayor of Amity Township

You can call him mayor. He might just be the youngest around. At 12 years old he's already gone through so much. Mavrik Laxton has been battling a severe heart condition most of his life. But Wednesday, he led Amity Township as mayor.

Our Hank Flynn went to meet him and came away a changed man.

The kid has a big spirit considering he's been in and out of hospitals for most of his young life. He has hypoplastic left heart syndrome and he needs a new heart. His mom, Kim, says prospects are not good.

"Unfortunately, he is too sick for a transplant that was the plan to get him a new heart and that's not going to happen. So we're just going to make him happy and he's going to be mayor. He doesn't really know how sick he is - but he's a sick little boy," she said.

Friends call him 'The Mayor' anyway so it was a thunderous motorcade of police cars, fire trucks and motorcycles that delivered Mavrik to Amity Town Hall. There they made it official.

Mayor Mavrik got himself a new sweatshirt, certificates and he led the crowd in a dab or two. He also held court like any good mayor would. CJ Santangelo and his A-Team Charities were there. They had a successful fundraiser for Mav last year. He says he loves the kid because he lives for today.
