Authorities Locate Teen Who Prompted Amber Alert, Suspect Arrested

WILKES BARRE, Pa. (AP) -Authorities located 16 year old Jena Patterson early Saturday morning. Wilkes-Barre Officers and the US Marshals Office responded to a tip that the fugitive and victim were in the area of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

The suspect and victim were observed in the parking garage of the hospital. A foot pursuit was initiated after the suspect noticed investigators approaching him. He attempted to flee officers and was observed throwing a weapon to the ground. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Patterson was located with the suspect and was transported to Police HQ where she was turned over to her family. She was unharmed physically.

Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Alert for Jena Patterson after they she was taken from her home on East View Drive on Thursday night by 21-year-old Walter Lewis.

Lewis was arrested on the outstanding Kidnapping warrant, weapons charges and a capias issued by Luzerne County.
