Authorities release dashcam video of police-involved shooting in NJ
Camden, NJ (WTXF) - We're getting a new close-up look at a police-involved shooting in the Fairview section of Camden County. Today authorities released dashcam video from the October incident.
It shows a Haddon Township police officer being dragged by a truck during a traffic stop. The video shows the dramatic scene unfolding as the police officer, tries to talk to the driver, and is then dragged off by the pickup truck which crashes into a parked car.
The suspect now identified, as 38-year-old Edmond Brown, scuffled with the officer after he got out of his truck, according to the video. He appears to surrender, and then tries to run away. At some point, Brown was shot in the leg. Brown was eventually subdued.
Brown was initially charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and violating probation. This week, police announced they found a loaded magnum with additional ammo in the pickup.
The officer is on administrative leave while the prosecutor's office continues its investigation to find out exactly what took place and determine if the officer was justified in shooting the suspect. Brown is being held on 100k bail.
