Couple Asks Guests to Donate to Charity, Instead of Wedding Gifts

Brent Rogers and Ella Eckerson say they didn't want a typical wedding. Instead of gifts, they asked people to donate to 'Literacy Kansas City.'

The bride and groom tied the knot at Grinders in the Crossroad's Art District.

They didn't even call it a wedding- but rather a 'Love, Charity and Rock and Roll' event.

The celebration was open to the public.

"A lot of people want to give us gifts but we are adamant," said Rogers. "So far it's been received really well by all of our friends and family."

Literacy Kansas City is a non-profit organization that aims to battle illiteracy.
