Cruise employee accused of molesting teenage passenger

A Carnival Cruise employee now stands accused of molesting a teenage boy who was returning home from a vacation in Central America with family.

According to Daily Mail, 46-year-old Yovany Suazo Batiz from Honduras was arrested and charged with sexual battery of a person under 16 years of age and lewd and lascivious molestation.

Suazo Batiz served as a stateroom steward on the Carnival Valor. He was taken into custody when the ship docked in Port Canaveral, Florida on Saturday, Daily Mail reports.

The father of the alleged victim reported the assault to security after his son told him the employee touched him while he was in the shower that morning.

WESH reports that Suazo Batiz allegedly approached the boy in the ship's sauna before he followed him to the shower.

Reportedly, the boy told his father immediately following the alleged assault.

Daily Mail reports that Suazo Batiz was being held in lieu of $135,000 bail as of Sunday night.

Prosecutors believe that the suspect is a flight risk, and requested that he be held without bond. From there, the bond was increased from $95,000 according to the Daily Mail.

According to a Broward County judge, if Suazo Batiz does post bail he should surrender his passport.

Florida Today reports that, in addition, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement office has placed a hold on Suazo Batiz.
