DA: 18-year-old shot in the face in Haverford Twp. over 'an ounce of marijuana'; teen in custody
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (FOX 29) - An 18-year-old man is critically injured after being shot in the face in Haverford Township, and a 17-year-old believed to be the shooter is now in custody.
The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday near Glen Gary Drive and Rose Tree Lane.
Authorities say James McCauley, 17, has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, firearms without a license, possession of an instrument of crime and receiving stolen property.
Responding officers found the victim laying in the street with a gunshot wound to the face. He was transported to Lankenau Medical Center, where he is in critical condition. Police have since identified the victim as Marquis Mays.
According to authorities, the shooting transpired over a drug deal involving an ounce of marijuana.
This is an ongoing investigation. Bail has been set at $1 million.
