Documentary produced by University of Pennsylvania sophomore wins Oscar

A University of Pennsylvania sophomore took home an Oscar Sunday night for her work on a documentary short.

Claire Sliney, a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, is credited as a producer of 'Period. End of Sentence.'

The film won an Academy Award for best documentary short subject Sunday night, and Claire was among those who took the stage to accept the award.

The film follows a group of girls and women in a rural village outside New Delhi who are fighting the stigma surrounding feminine health.

Sliney, who is a native of Los Angeles, had been working on the 26-minute film since high school. It debuted on Netflix earlier this month.
