Firefighters rescue man from roof of burning shore home

Firefighters came to the rescue of a man trapped on the roof of a burning New Jersey shore home.

The fire in Asbury Park was reported around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Emergency responders spotted the man when they arrived on scene, and firefighters quickly used a ladder to get him to safety. The man was then taken to a hospital, where he was treated for undisclosed injuries.

All the other occupants of the three-story multifamily home safely escaped the blaze. But two firefighters suffered undisclosed injuries.

Firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours before it was brought under control. Their efforts were hampered by the frigid and icy conditions.

Authorities say the home was severely damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
