High School football player dies after suffering injury on the field

(INSIDE EDITION)- An Ohio high school football player died Sunday, two days after suffering an injury on the field.

Andre Jackson, a junior fullback, was hurt while playing with the Euclid High School Panthers Friday night outside Cleveland.

The 17-year-old was rushed off the field and to a hospital, where he died Sunday.

"I can't even start to find a tool or pill to help my sister with her pain right now I'm crying with her but it's not helping I don't like seeing my people go through nothing without helping in some kinda way but lord I know you have a greater plan for my nephew Andre Jackson," the teen's aunt, Marylon Jackson, wrote on Facebook in the aftermath of Andre's death.

She continued: "Gone way to (sic) soon way way too soon this was so unexpected and such a tragedy I love him like my own help he was mine too but lord give my sister peace please.Paulett Jackson in Jesus name.amen."

Euclid City school district leaders said grief counselors would be on hand at the school Monday.

In a statement, the school district wrote:

"Today, Euclid High School junior Andre L. Jackson passed away following an injury sustained during Friday night's football game. Andre was a hardworking student-athlete that brought smiles to all those with whom he came in contact. The Euclid City School District would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Jackson family during this horrific time.

The exact cause of Andre's death remains unclear.
