NEW YORK CITY - A 51-year-old man died Saturday night after falling from an elevated section at Madison Square Garden during a concert.
What we know:
Police responded to the venue at 9:51 p.m., where they found the man unresponsive following a fall from the 300 level. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities identified him as Paul Kueker of Niantic, Connecticut. According to police sources, Kueker was attending the concert with his wife when he fell from the upper seating area.
What they're saying:
Goose was performing its second of two sold-out shows at MSG at the time. The band shared a statement on social media following the tragedy.
"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight's show," the band wrote. "We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support."
MSG Entertainment released the following statement on Sunday:
"While we await the police report on the tragedy at last night's Goose concert, we are deeply saddened by the loss of a fan's life at Madison Square Garden. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the concertgoer."
