Man shot after struggling with gunman inside barbershop

Two armed robbers opened fire at a barbershop in North Philadelphia, leaving a 27-year-old man in extremely critical condition.

Police say the victim was waiting to get a haircut at a barbershop on the 2900 block of 22nd Street around 9 p.m.

The victim was waiting with other customers, including two young children and a baby, when two armed men wearing masks burst in and announced a robbery.

Investigators say one shot was fired in the waiting area but no one was hit, and the victim then struggled with one of the gunmen before he was shot twice outside the shop.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in extremely critical condition and suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and chest.

The suspects have been described by police as two black males, approximately 20-years-old, and both remain at large.

Police say they do not know the motive for the shooting, and they are investigating whether or not the victim may have been intervening in a robbery.
