Officials find kidnapped Montana child in Chester County, mother arrested

EXTON, Pa. (FOX 29) - A woman wanted by police in Montana for kidnapping her daughter in 2017 was found with the child in Chester County on Saturday, officials announced.

Tracy Rearden, 32, had been sought since the summer of 2017 after she unlawfully took her then 3-year-old daughter.

On Saturday morning, authorities say they received a tip that Rearden may be visiting a friends in Exton, Pennsylvania.

Officials located Rearden and her daughter exiting a residence on the 500 block of Merioneth Drive. Police surrounded Rearden's vehicle and took her into custody without incident.

The now 5-year-old daughter was recovered safely. Reports indicate that she will be reunited with her father in Montana.

Police say Rearden was in possession of two firearms at the time of her arrest.

Rearden will be held in Chester County jail where she will await transportation back to Montana.
