'Operation Poison Control': 3 men indicted on drug trafficking charges in Norristown

Officials have announced that three men have been indicted for trafficking illegal drugs in Montgomery, Lehigh, Lancaster, and Berks counties. The men were also charged with the unlawful possession of firearms.

District Attorney Kevin R. Steele made the announcement Monday following the initial June 2018 arrests. David Cooper, 44, of Muhlenberg Township, Pa.; Christopher Saunders, 26, of Pottstown, Pa.; and Edwin Andino, 36, of Allentown, Pa.; were originally arrested in a multi-agency bust.

Cooper and Andino are facing federal charges for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, cocaine base.

Saunders was also charged with the above counts as well as participating in narcotics-trafficking conspiracy.

"They were dealing in death and fueling the addictions and overdoses that have affected so many people in the region," said District Attorney Steele.

The wiretap investigation, "Operation Poison Control," ran from May to June 2018.

One of the leaders of the drug trafficking organization, Miguel Figueroa Jr., pleaded guilty on Dec. 19, 2018 and has been sentenced to 18 to 40 years in a state correction institution.

Operation Poison Control yielded more than 20 arrests.
