Physical therapist accused of sexually assaulting 96-year-old man

Prosecutors have just announced sexual assault charges against a worker caring for an elderly person.

42-year-old Arnee Rubi, of Northampton, faces indecent assault charges involving a 96-year-old man.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli says Rubi did the unthinkable to a 96-year-old patient he was supposed to providing in home physical therapy. According to authorities, Rubi fondled the elderly patient and forced the man to touch him while making a house call last month. The victim's granddaughter walked in on the alleged abuse.

"She said she saw the defendant moving the victim's hand back and forth in an area of the defendant's groin," DA Morganelli said

Rubi worked for St. Luke's Visiting Nurse Association for the last five years and was assigned by the hospital to come to the victim's home. Police say Rubi specifically treated the elderly and hospice patients.

"You trust them, you trust them that they are gonna do the right things," DA Morganelli said

The fear is there are more victims.

"In my years of experience, when we have situations like this, it's not normally the first time," DA Morganelli said.

A representative of St. Luke's tells FOX 29 that the individual who is facing criminal charges no longer works for the St. Luke's Visiting Nurse Association. They are fully cooperating with authorities to assist in this investigation.
