Police: 16-year-old girl stabbed after large fight in Olney

Philadelphia police say a 16-year-old girl was stabbed after a large fight in the city's Olney section.

Cell phone video shows the chaos on Rising Sun Avenue, a block from Olney High School, at the end of the school day just before 4 p.m.

What neighbors describe as a couple hundred students on the scene, watching or participating in a large fight, mostly among girls. According to police, someone stabbed a 16-year-old girl in her side. Officers raced her to the hospital where she's listed in critical condition.

Neighbor Richard Heffintrayer is sick of it.

"I've seen them. They're fighting and pulling hair," he told FOX 29.

He says this wasn't a problem until this school year. The students walk to the corner to catch a SEPTA bus after school. They often have to wait up to an hour before enough busses pass to pick everyone up.

At an intersection that's become a known trouble spot, neighbors want police stationed here every day after school.
