Police: 2 men shot at 'illegal speakeasy' inside Crescentville auto shop

Officials are investigating following a shooting at what police have referred to as an "illegal speakeasy" located inside an auto body shop in Crescentville.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Adams Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Two men, ages 22 and 31, were injured in the shooting. The 31-year-old man, who was shot in the face, is listed in critical condition. The extent of the younger man's injuries is known at this time.

The alleged speakeasy was still open when police arrived, and witnesses were questioned.

According to 911 calls, there were two armed men and some exchange of gunfire. It is unclear at this time whether or not the two men shot were the men with the guns.

Captain Lee Strollo tells FOX 29 that police are aware of many speakeasies throughout the city. The speakeasy in question was reportedly cited recently.

Sunday's shooting was the second in two days at an alleged speakeasy within the region. On Saturday, one person was killed and three more were injured in a shooting at a so-called "residential speakeasy" in Camden, New Jersey.

This is an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
