Police: 7 hurt, 1 seriously, in Newark crash involving DART bus

Police say seven people were taken to a hospital after a crash involving a DART bus in Newark, Delaware.

Delaware State Police said in a statement that a DART bus and another vehicle collided around 7 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of South College Avenue and West Chestnut Hill Road.

Police say seven people were injured and taken to area hospitals, including one person who was flown to a hospital with serious injuries.

The intersection is shut down for east and west traffic. Southbound South College Avenue is shut down at Christina Parkway, while Northbound South College Avenue traffic is flowing slowly.

Roadways are expected to be closed for an extended period of time.

The crash remains under investigation.
