Police: Man dead, 3 injured and dog killed after violent Memorial Day in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are investigating following a violent Memorial Day, which saw at least four separate shooting incidents across Philadelphia.

Around 3 p.m. Monday, police responded to a shooting incident in Juniata when a 4-year-old boy was reportedly attacked by a family dog on the 4600 block of Shelbourne Street.

A neighbor intervened and fatally shot the Pit Bull Terrier. The man was released without charges after being taken in for questioning.

A 37-year-old man and 23-year-old man were also shot multiple times in South Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood Monday around 7 p.m. Police say 50 shell casings were recovered from the scene on the 1700 block of South 20th Street.

A short time later, officers responded to the 2300 block of West Indiana Avenue in North Philadelphia, where they found 24-year-old Kevin Lowe suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his head and stomach. Lowe was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Around the same time in West Philadelphia, officers responded to the 6100 block of Callowhill Street, where a 22-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his head and back. A second victim, an 18-year-old male, was found on the 100 block of North Dewey Street suffering from a gunshot wound to his back.

Both victims were transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

No arrests have been made in connection with any of the four shootings.
