Police: Suspected child sex offender spotted in New Hope
NEW HOPE, Pa. (WTXF) - Police are searching for a suspected child sex offender who was spotted on Friday afternoon.
Around 4 p.m. Friday, Solebury police received a call from a motorist who told them they saw 47-year-old David Hamilton riding a bicycle in the area of Stoney Hill Road in New Hope.
A police officer tracked Hamilton down. According to police, the officer got into a struggle with Hamilton and the suspect attempted to take the officer's weapon, but did not succeed. He then fled on foot into a wooded area--30-40 acres in size. The officer is being evaluated at Doylestown Hospital.
A hunter saw Hamilton in the woods after the struggle with the officer and sent a photo into police.
Police located the car Hamilton was seen driving in Morrisville Borough, Pa.
Police have set up a perimeter around Bucks and Hunterdon County with a two mile radius. Expect road closures, please avoid the area until further notice.
