Police: Weapon found at Universal Daroff Charter School

WEST PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Police say a weapon was recovered during a lock down search of Daroff Charter School on Friday morning.

Officers responded to the 5600 block of Vine Street around 10:00 a.m. after they received reports of an 8-year-old student armed with a gun.

Police say the lock down lasted just ten minutes, but officers did recover a weapon.

The parent of the 8-year-old was called to the school.

The investigation is ongoing.
