Pony ride company employee in custody after allegedly touching child innapropriately

Police arrested a pony ride company employee after he allegedly touched a nine-year-old girl inappropriately last month.

The Delaware State Police investigated the incident after a representative of the Fifer Orchards contacted troopers on Wednesday.

The representative told police that a nine-year-old female was with her mom at the orchards on Allabands Mill Road in Camden-Wyoming on Oct. 29th. The young girl participated in pony rides offered by Angels Gather Here Pony Rides on the orchard grounds.

After her pony ride ended, the child told her mom that the man who helped her off the pony inappropriately touched her.

The victim's mom contacted the owner of the pony ride company and a representative of Fifer Orchards and reported the incident.

On Friday, police identified the pony ride employee as 33-year-old John Blackburn, a registered sex offender from Houston. Blackburn was taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Sexual Contact of a Child by a Registered Sex Offender and Failure to Re-Register as a Sex Offender Within Three Days after a Change in Employment.

He was arraigned and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution in default of $106,000.00 cash bond.

The Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation into this incident and more charges are expected. If anyone has any information in reference to this incident they are asked to contact Detective William Miller at 302-698-8435.
