Power outages across Bucks County after overnight storms

DOYLESTOWN, PA. (WTXF) - Powerful storms rolled through Philadelphia's surrounding areas overnight, leaving a trail of damage and residents without power.

A few thousand people in Doylestown were powerless Saturday morning. At one point, PECO estimated it was about 2,500 residents.

Thunder, lightning, and heavy rain were responsible for the outages as well as several trees reportedly down in the area.

Maria Bushnell told FOX 29's Jenni Joyce that her and her husband shot out of bed and walked outside to see the messy aftermath of the summer storm.

A massive tree was strewn across North Street that brought down power lines at Chapman Avenue and snapped a utility police in half.

"We were sleeping and at 3:30 p.m. I heard a big crash and then all of these lights flashing," said Bushnell.

The storms bursted into the area overnight, but moved out by morning.
