Over 100K pulled pork sandwich products recalled due to possible plastic contamination

The E.A. Sween Company is recalling 127,887 pounds of its pulled pork sandwich product that may be contaminated with pieces of plastic.
The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said in a recall notice that the barbecue pulled pork sandwich goods were produced on various dates between January 13, 2025, and October 15, 2025.

The 5.5-oz. paper wrapped "Deli EXPRESS BBQ PULLED PORK on a sesame bun" sandwiches are being recalled and have the number "EST. 2451" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The food items were shipped to retail locations across the country, including the Department of Defense.
According to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the issue was detected from consumers discovering pieces of plastic in the barbecue pulled pork plastic sandwich items.

E.A. Sween Company officials determined that the plastic came from gallon plastic barbecue bottles used in production.
So far, there haven’t been confirmed reports of injury from consuming the goods. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service officials are encouraging anyone worried about an injury to contact a doctor.
