Schools announce closings, early dismissals ahead of Thursday's wintry mix

With the first flakes of the season expected to impact the area on late Thursday morning and into the afternoon, some local schools are being extra careful.

Wednesday night, Lower Moreland School District had announced they would be dismissing students early Thursday at 10:55 a.m.

Central Bucks School District and The Vanguard School have since announced that they would be closed for the day ahead of the weather.

Kutztown Area School District, St. Katharine Drexel Regional Catholic School, and the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology have all announced early dismissals as well.

Late Thursday morning, the snow will lift from the north towards the Delaware Valley and by 11 a.m. we should see snow in Philadelphia--pushing to the northeast.

By 3 p.m. Thursday, Philadelphia will be transitioning to rain, but north and west of the city we will continue to see a wintry mix until Thursday evening.

Most of the area is expecting a coating to an inch of snow before things turn over to rain in the afternoon.
